Drink driver arrested twice today

SOME people just never learn.

A Coffs Harbour man caught drink driving early this morning got back behind the wheel in full view of police.

Stopped for a random breath test on Ocean Parade at 2.25am, the 56-year-old returned a positive reading and was taken back to the police station where he returned a mid-range reading of 0.089.

The man was charged and had his licence suspended on the spot.

Police said a short time later officers observed the man walking along the side of the roadway close to where his vehicle was parked.

It's alleged he got back behind the wheel before he was stopped in Vincent St, just an hour and half after the original offence.

The man again failed a roadside breath test.

Police said he was returned to the station and when breathaylsed gave a low-range reading of 0.065.

The man has been charged with two counts of driving under the influence and driving whilst disqualified.

He is due to answer to the charges in Coffs Harbour Local Court.
