Dragon boaters do Coffs proud

IT may be the Year of the Rabbit but last weekend’s Chinese New Year Festival in Sydney featured a great many dragons, including quite a few from the Coffs Coast.

Twenty two local paddlers contested the City of Sydney’s Chinese New Year Festival Dragon Boat races at Darling Harbour.

In a thrilling weekend of races, the Coffs Coast mixed team took first place in the regional final where they competed against Camden Haven, Grafton, Port Macquarie, Orange and Foster Pearl Dragons.

Team captain Dave Butler was extremely pleased with the results particularly in view of the calibre of the competition and commented that the on-going regular training was now starting to show results.
