Man hurt in hydraulic rake mishap

A YOUNG Dorrigo man is recovering in hospital from a nasty work accident.

The 26-year-old employee at Stan Cork Machinery was repairing a large hydraulic rake and was fitting tyres to it with the help of a workmate when the accident happened at 11am today , police said.

“The rake was attached to a tractor which was used to lower and raise the rake as required,” a police spokesman said.

“It appears the rake has dropped one to two metres, striking him heavily across the back and left shoulder.

“He was knocked unconscious for a brief period of time.

“He was not pinned or trapped and his injuries were not considered life-threatening.”

Colleagues rushed to his aid and lifted the rake from him and comforted him while waiting for paramedics to arrive.

He was treated at the scene and taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus, where his condition in the emergency department late today was listed as stable.
