Dorrigo hotel celebrates 90th birthday with heritage tours
THURSDAY will mark a very special milestone 90th birthday for the Heritage Hotel Motel Dorrigo.
The hotel was first opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the afternoon of Thursday, August 13, 1925.
To celebrate the birthday occasion, the hotel manager has organised an open day on Sunday for locals to view the building's heritage features and furniture.
Some of the original features in the heritage-listed building include the iron balustrading, timber trains, white plaster ceiling with black japonica timber squares and original furniture from 1925.
Visitors will also be able to see the 1936 "new wing" building extension and how rooms have been combined to create larger hotel suites.
The hotel tour will start at the Cudgery St corner bar door and will end in the Fernery Bistro where a finger food lunch and drinks will be provided.
A celebratory dinner will be held the evening before on Saturday from 6.30pm in the hotel's Fernery Bistro.
Descendants of the hotel's founders, Michael and Elene Feros, will be in attendance to share memories and reminisce about their childhood days and the hotel's early years.
The Heritage Hotel Motel Dorrigo 90th Birthday Open Day will be held Sunday from 1pm.
To register for the tour phone hotel manager Rick Clarke on 6657 2016.
