Dope crops seized

MORE than $18 million worth of cannabis crops have been seized in a series of aerial drug raids in the past five months, including seizures in Coffs Harbour and across the Mid North Coast.

Police Minister Tony Kelly said the proactive work of police has managed to put a huge dent in the illegal cannabis trade.

Seven cannabis eradication programs were conducted from November last year to the end of March this year, with targeted regions including the Mid North Coast and Coffs Harbour.

A total of 9645 cannabis plants were destroyed and 20 people were charged with either possessing or cultivating cannabis.

The haul effectively wiped out a large percentage of the NSW summer crop destined for the streets.
