Doggone it, best pup was a pointer

NEW Coffs Coast residents R and K Wolftenholme carried off the award for best puppy in show at the Bonville and District Kennel Club Championship and All Breeds Dog Show last weekend.

Mr and Mrs Wolftenholme's German short-haired pointer puppy Era Snif Elton John was exhibited in the gun dogs section of the show.

The couple are new exhibitors at local canine events, having recently moved to Valla from Queensland.

There were also several local winners of class in group awards, including Rebecca Poulden of Coffs Harbour who was successful with her staffordshire bull terrier Ch Borstaff Neva Been Kissd, which was also runner-up in the terrier group and Mrs A Johnson who was successful with her baby puppy AA Sheer Bull Our Barney in the terrier group and also got runner-up in the group on Saturday with her junior bitch Ch AA Sheer Bull Our Audrey.

Belgian shepherd breeder Jenine Glenn of Bonville also won a junior award in the working dog group on Saturday with her 13-month-old Belgian shepherd tervueren bitch Tarraray Laura Look.

Coffs Harbour will host the Festival of the Canine on May 29-31, which includes three championship dog shows and three obedience trials.
