Dog squad called to track speeder who fled from ute

THE police dog squad were used to track an alleged speedster who had fled from his ute.

The 35-year-old man was seen by police alleged speeding on Hervey Bay-Maryborough Rd just after midnight on Monday.

Police attempted to intercept but the silver Ford Falcon ute allegedly sped away.

Police later found the ute dumped at the corner of Hervey Bay-Maryborough Rd and Sunnyside Dr.

The dog squad were called and were able to track the man who was allegedly hiding in bushland nearby.

He was charged with possessing dangerous drugs, speeding, unlicensed driving and drug driving.

He will appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court at a later date.
