Dog kills wallaby near Hearnes Lake

A FREE-ROAMING dog was seen to attack and kill an adult male swamp wallaby last Monday.

The incident took place on the beach just south of Woolgoolga's Hearnes Lake.

The dog is described as having a reddish brown face, chest and belly, and a black neck, back and tail.

The dog is said to stand slightly taller than a blue cattle dog.

The incident has been reported to the local ranger and the dog placed on the council's watch list.

Anyone who is able to identify the dog's owner is asked to contact National Parks and Wildlife.
