Dog bites off part of girl's cheek

A YOUNG girl is in hospital after having part of her cheek bitten off by a dog.

At 7.15pm yesterday, the 4-year-old girl was playing with the family labrador at her Larnook home when the dog bit her face, taking off a large portion of her cheek, police said.

Its believed the family were involved in a motor vehicle accident earlier in the day and returned home to feed their dog when the attack occurred.

The victim was taken to Lismore Base Hospital and later flown to Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane for emergency surgery.

The fate of the dog is yet to be determined.
