Time to do that tax return

THE October 31 deadline to lodge income tax returns is fast approaching with Tax Commissioner Michael D'Ascenzo advising people who are preparing their own returns to start doing so as soon as possible and not to leave it until the last minute.

“One of the easiest ways to lodge your return is using e-tax,” Mr D'Ascenzo said.

“e-tax can save you time by downloading information from third parties directly into your return such as bank interest, payment summaries and government payments.

“Over 1.6 million people have already lodged using e-tax, and 71 per cent of these people have downloaded information to help them.

If you are concerned you won't meet the October 31 deadline or need assistance with your tax return call the Tax Office on 13 28 61 between 8.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday.
