‘Disgusting’ thing GoT star had to do
JUST in case you thought filming TV's biggest show would be a glamorous experience, please allow Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner to enlighten you.
Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on the hit HBO series, revealed to In Style that she was forced to live with "really disgusting" hair for years in order to play her part authentically.
"Well, for the first few seasons I was allowed to wash my hair because I was an aristocratic young girl," she explained.
"Towards season 5 they started asking me to not wash my hair and it was really disgusting … for a couple of years I was living with pretty greasy hair."
Making matters worse, Turner said the "really itchy" experience was made worse when filming.
"Also, we would have the snow machines going so we would have little snow paper particles that would get stuck in the grease. It was disgusting,' she said.
Turner, whose hair is naturally blonde, was eventually allowed to start wearing wigs for Game of Thrones but admits it sees her spend more time getting her hair styled before filming.
"It's mainly the people with the wigs that take the longest," she explained.
Turner isn't the only Game of Thrones star to face strict rules when it came to her hair, with Kit Harington famously banned from cutting his hair.
In 2014, Harington revealed he was contractually obligated not to cut his hair, explaining it had led to "ridiculous conversations … between agents and managers and HBO".
"I didn't realise this until recently and then I kind of, I wanted to cut it - I've had long hair for ages - and they were like, 'No, no, no, that won't be happening," Harington told US talk show Live! With Kelly and Michael.
Earlier this week a teaser for Game of Thrones' eighth season was released, along with the news the show's final series would begin on April 15.
