YOU could be giving someone a parent or a sibling by donating your organs.

During Organ Donation Awareness Week, there’s one big message being pushed: donating organs is donating life.

Anne Judd, a NCAHS clinical nurse specialist for organ and tissue donation, said the aim is to raise community awareness of the “three D’s” – Discover the facts; Decide to donate, and; Discuss your decision with family members.

“Prior family discussion can make the process a little easier on donor families because donation is more likely to proceed when families know each other’s wishes,” Ms Judd said.
