Diplomat drops in to Coffs

THE United States Consul-General, Judith Fergin, has always wanted to visit Coffs Harbour and she got her wish yesterday on a whistle-stop tour of the city.

The diplomat was escorted by a small contingent of Australian Federal Police officers during her visit to the Coffs Harbour Education Campus yesterday afternoon.

Mrs Fergin also took in the delights of the Bonville International Golf Resort and was guest of honour at a civic reception and speaker at Rotary last night.

She travels as often as she can through NSW and Queensland to capture a snapshot of regional Australia.

“I’m an economic policy type and I’m interested in the economic performances of places I visit,” Mrs Fergin said.

“I like to have a sense of the economic picture and political outlook of a region and while I’m here I hope to talk to students about their idea of the US and any misconceptions they may have.”
