Digging deep for Diabetes
THE tenth anniversary of Jelly Baby Day ended in a bidding war as the A Grade jerseys were auctioned off to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The auction raised $8670 for the foundation with jersey number nine selling for $1000 alone in a bidding war.
Both juniors and seniors played at home with all Wheatmen wearing specially designed jelly baby shorts for the fundraising day.
Jelly Baby Day was started ten years ago to support long time club members the Storey's when their son Zac was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
Zac Storey now plays for B Grade and said he is appreciative of all the support from the club over the years.
"Everyone's showed their full support,” he said.
"It's not just about finding a cure, even if we can find a prevention so some of these young fellas don't have to go through it.”
Check out some of the people who came out to show their support.
