Top spot decider in Coffs Harbour cricket

IT WILL be a juicy top of the table clash between Plantation Diggers and Sawtell in the next round as Diggers beat the PBBC Colts to make it three wins out of three games.

Captain Alex Byrne said it was a good game against the Colts.

"We were chasing 175 - we let them get away a bit but brought them back in the last 10 overs," he said.

"We then lost a couple of wickets early; we had it in the bag early on but it was looking dicey for a while."

In the run chase Diggers were cruising at 2-123 with Alex Byrne and Damon Rootes putting on a 77-run partnership, but got the wobblies, losing 4-20.

Some big hitting at the end by Harry Bassi saw Diggers home with the ball, and the Colts didn't help their chances of defending their total by bowling 21 wides.

Alex is cautiously optimistic about a win against Sawtell, saying both teams are different from last year, but still strong.

"I think we're in a good position ... but it could go either way," he said.
