Different shell found at beach

'THOMAS' the turtle may very well owe his life to Sharon Jackson.

Sharon was walking her dogs along Boambee Beach yesterday morning, just like any other day, when she spotted what looked like a dead turtle amongst a bunch of debris.

“He was covered in debris, I pulled it all off him - I thought he was dead,” she said.

“So I picked him up and carried him back to my car and brought him home.”

On the way she stopped at the bait shop to get some food for the turtle, which had since moved its head.

“When I got home I got the plastic bath and filled it with saltwater,” she said.

“As soon as I put him in, he started swimming and seemed happier. I'm so relieved, I thought he would die.”

She called WIRES, and they recommended calling the Pet Porpoise Pool, which was exactly where Sharon was taking the little guy yesterday afternoon.

“The kids will be blown away. I've named him Thomas, after my son,” she said.
