Cr Denise Knight. TREVOR VEALE

Vote for me: Denise Knight

WHY do I want to be mayor?

I have had a four-year apprenticeship, two as a councillor, and two as deputy mayor.

There could not have been a better training and natural transition, under the tutorship of Bill Palmer, Jenny Bonfield and Keith Rhoades.

I have listened, learned and now it's time to act.

I have had my finger on the pulse of the city by being in the workforce (nursing) and listening to what people are asking to be done about the city.

The city needs to move forward with direction and purpose.

The Jetty foreshores, tourism, small business, sport, essential services, arts and culture are all part of the city and need the council's considered attention.

For the four years on the council, I have been all over the electorate, meeting, greeting and learning.

My family have been part of the community for the past 30 years.

What will I aim to do?

Coffs Harbour has progressed over the past four years but there is an opportunity to work with my fellow councillors to steer our city towards the wants and needs of the community.

There is work to be done, there are challenges to face and I hope that the council and the community can strive together.
