Delissa fires at Bexley

DELISSA Kimmince will learn some of the finer points of the game from England captain Charlotte Edwards during a stint in premier league in England.

The Warwick pace bowler will play for Bexley in the women's premier league cricket competition in the Australian off season, the same team as the England captain, two players from South Africa and the daughter of the England women's coach.

Kimmince debuted for Australia in the Rosebowl in New Zealand in 2008 and played for the Southern Stars in the 2009 ICC Women's World Cup in Australia.

Her mother Suellen Kimmince said the men and women at the Bexley club trained together.

“She is having fun bowling to the men in the nets,” Suellen said.

“Delissa said one of the men at Bexley wasn't happy when one of her deliveries hit him on the foot.

“She is really enjoying her cricket in England.

“Delissa is keen on improving her batting and wants to be an all rounder.”

She withdrew from Queensland Fire commitments in 2010-2011 but will be back training with the Fire squad in August or September after a request by Queensland Cricket that she return home early to train for next season.

Her only cricket in 2010-2011 was a carnival with the Queensland Second XI in Canberra where she performed best with the bat.

This season will be the first time Delissa has played in Europe. Her only other international sporting trips have been two trips to New Zealand, one with the national under-21 side and one with the open Southern Stars.
