Delegates from gas industry head to forum in Brisbane

THOUSANDS of delegates from the gas industry will head to Brisbane for what organisers are describing as the largest forum of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

Australia's peak body for gas, the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association, expects to have 3000 at its four-day conference which begins on Sunday.

It will include speeches from resource ministers from Queensland, New South Wales and federal governments.

Speeches will also be given by bosses from Royal Dutch Shell, Origin, Santos, Chevron, Bechtel, groups heavily involved in Queensland's gas industry, and the International Energy Agency.

The conference will be held at Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from May 26 to May 29.
