Deep Sea Fishing Club's future "extremely bleak"

WITH the partnership with the North Coast Hotel Group falling through, Coffs Harbour's iconic Deep Sea Fishing Club has gone into liquidation.

On Monday night the club played host to more than 120 visiting and local deep sea anglers as presentations for the Hot Current Game Fishing Tournament were held.

The event could well turn out to be the club's last hurrah.

The announcement comes within a month of the club re-opening for functions and events after coming out of administration in August.

Club president Bill Mabey said he was not giving up hope the club could find its sea legs for good.

"I'm pretty devastated of course, but I won't give up hope until the auctioneer's hammer falls on the last lot, and miracles have happened before," Mr Mabey said.
