Deb Lee's Kidz Biz's final curtain
THERE will be a huge box of tissues on hand at Club Coffs this weekend when veteran kids show Deb Lee’s Kidz Biz has it’s final curtain call.
For almost two decades the star of the show, Deb Leaney, has been giving up her Sunday afternoons to entertain kids on the Coffs Coast in the free family show – but is finally calling it a day.
“I have really mixed emotions,” Ms Leaney said.
“I’ve had kids coming up to me really upset already and parents asking if I’ll be moving somewhere else. I’m definitely going to miss the kids.
“Seeing the joy in the kids’ faces is awesome. Because a lot of them are regulars, you get to know them and they come up and tell you what’s been happening in their life and draw you pictures and bring you presents which is really sweet.”
While the decision of Club Coffs’ management to discontinue the show was a shock, Ms Leaney said she’s put feelers out to have other venues pick it up.
In the meantime she will be focusing on her personal singing career.
To make sure the show goes out with a bang, Ms Leaney has something extra-special in store for this Sunday afternoon.
“We’re going to be bigger and better than usual, I’m going to try and fit in as much as I possibly can to the last show,” she said.
As well as the usual singing, dancing, air guitar competitions and fin activities, there will be an Easter egg giveaway.
Head down to Club Coffs from 5.30pm this Sunday to say goodbye to Deb Lee’s Kidz Biz.
