David Hicks to speak in Bellingen

FORMER Guantanamo Bay inmate David Hicks will speak about his experiences inside one of the world's most notorious military prison in Bellingen.

Mr Hicks, who was detained by the United States for five-and-a-half years without charge, will take part in a question and answer session with Dr Richard Hill in the town next month.

He will speak about his decision to convert to Islam and bear arms as a paramilitary in Kashmir and Afghanistan, which eventually led to him being detained and sold to the US as a terror suspect.

Mr Hicks returned to Australia in 2007 and now lives in Sydney.

The public forum will be held at the Bellingen Memorial Hall on Saturday, April 6 between 7pm and 9pm.

Entry is $12 per person or $8 for a concession.
