Darrell Lea choco-holics can relax

DARRELL Lea chocoholics concerned their favourite confectionary will run out have been told not to worry.

On Tuesday it was announced the Australian company had been forced into voluntary administration but Park Beach Plaza licensee Mark Heaney said there's no need for panic buying even though he's always on the lookout for more customers to walk through his shop's doors.

"We've been guaranteed the funds to keep the stock being produced," Mr Heaney said.

That is a relief not only for those who need a regular fix of chocolate but also those who use the iconic stores as a first port of call when Fathers Day comes around.

As a licensee, Mr Heaney is able to run the store as he sees fit while still receiving the benefits as a company store like the one that is at Coffs Central.

"We're probably in the best position at the moment as we're one of only about six stores who took the option of being a licensee," he said.
