A garden party and fashion parade before dancing for cancer
A WELL-known local nurse is holding a Cancer Council fundraiser on Saturday, in the lead up to her big debut at the Stars of Coffs Coast Dance for Cancer Challenge.
Coffs Harbour Health Campus Breast care nurse Lee Millard Newton will host a garden party and fashion parade at the Total Gardens Nursery Cafe to raise money for the big dance-off on November 14 at the C.ex Club.
The party will start at 3.30pm and promises to be a fun-filled afternoon with a big raffle prize full featuring garments from local clothing boutiques The Greenroom Gallery and Wholly Organic, Sawtell.
Fashion-lovers will be able to enjoy an array of delicious finger food as they watch the models will strut their stuff in ethical ecofriendly fashions.
Stars of Coffs Coast Committee members and past Stars contestants will bring their charisma and wit to MC the garden party event.
Being a breast cancer survivor, Lee hopes putting on her dancing shoes for the Stars of Coffs Coast Dance for Cancer Challenge will help continue to raise awareness about cancer within the community.
"I feel strongly that participation in an event such as this is about raising awareness of cancer in the community; most importantly the programs and support offered by Cancer Council NSW. The event is not only about getting 'well and truly' out of my comfort zone, but also about enjoying every moment and having a laugh," Lee said.
Tickets are $25 with all proceeds to be donated to breast and gynaecological cancer research and are available for purchase at the Greenroom Gallery, Total Gardens Nursery, the Cancer Council office and from Lee at BreastScreen, Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
