Dance the new Utopian dream

LIKE the great Fred Astaire, local artist and performer Travers Ross beguiles audiences but he’s not ‘singing in the rain’ he’s dancing in it as he gears up for Utopian Dream’s launch tonight.

Travers’s role in the event goes beyond dancing, choreographing and teaching – he is the founder and artistic director of the multicultural celebration of dance.

“This festival is all about the people. I want it to reach the status of Big Day Out or the Blues and Roots Festival and bring dance to the forefront,” Travers said.

The seven-day/nine-night festival features workshops, seminars, competitions, performances and evening entertainment and with all the action Travers will be kept on his toes.
