THREE Dalby school mates have reunited for the Great Endeavour Rally this week.
Joe Glasby, Phil Ryan and Graham Coutts are navigating across Queensland in a 1979 Holden HZ to raise money for the Endeavour Foundation.
The trio attended primary and high school together and have remained in touch ever since.
"Whenever I go to Dalby we catch up. Sometimes you might go for years without catching up, but it's just like yesterday," Joe said.
When Joe needed a crew for his second year entering the rally, he put the challenge to his friends in Dalby.
"Phil said he wanted to do a rally one day, so I gave him a ring," he said.
"We're having a good time."
Joe attempted the rally in the same car with his son and neighbours last year.
"We tried to complete it but we failed. We plan to finish it this time," Joe said.
Dalby's Ian Hayllor and Geoff Hewitt are participating in the rally for the first time this year.
"Geoff and I did a motorbike Endeavour ride from Cairns to Broome about 5-6 years sago. This is the first time we've had four wheels and comfort," Ian said.
"Everybody you talk to says it's a lot of fun. We wanted to give it a go."
Ian and Geoff selected a Ford Falcon RTV for the journey.
"I bought something that was quite cheap and ready to go. It's been a big effort to get the car ready for the road," Ian said.
Keith Gooderham is participating in the rally with his brother Eddie as The Goodies.
It is second time Keith had entered after seven years as an official.
"I just love the difficult tracks and the people. They are all wonderful people," Keith said.
