OPINION: Let's get this straight, I won't destroy marriage
SAME-SEX marriage (or marriage as I like to refer to it) seems to be one of the single biggest divisive issues in the country at the moment - there's no denying that.
As a young gay man, the topic of marriage - yes marriage (I want a wedding not a SAME-SEX wedding), is one of great sensitivity and frustration.
Since coming out I've always been told things I can't do, things I can't have or won't have because my sexual orientation somehow defines how my life path will go.
As corny as it sounds I've always dreamed of my wedding day, dreamed of that perfect fitting suit and celebrating my love with my family and my partner - a celebration of everything and everyone special in my life.
It seems for some reason - God only knows why - that was apparently too much to ask for (as if it was something we ever had to ask for anyway).
While I am respectful of the opinions of others, I find myself increasingly frustrated by people using outdated religious beliefs to dictate the laws of society.
All I want is the opportunity to one day commit to the person I love and call him my husband, doesn't seem like a big ask - right?
Let's just get one thing straight (excuse the pun), I don't have a 'homosexual agenda' and I'm not out to destroy the sanctity of heterosexual marriages.
While we're on the subject of heterosexual marriages, did anybody else catch a charming little show on TV called Married at First Sight?
I'm pretty sure God wouldn't exactly be approving of that little gem either.
