Cyclist critical following fall

A FORTY-SIX-year-old Dorrigo man was last night in a critical condition following a fall from his bicycle on Sunday morning.

Police said they received a call just after 9am to attend the accident 5km west of Thora.

On arrival they found the man lying unconscious on the road.

He was taken by ambulance to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital and later transferred to John Hunter Hospital suffering significant life threatening injuries.

Police said the man had been riding down Waterfall Way from Dorrigo at around 70kmh when he hit a 20cm dip in the road.

He apparently lost control and came off his bike, landing heavily on the road and hitting his head.
