PIZZA lovers have been left with supreme disappointment after a popular Coast restaurant closed its doors for good.

The site of Depot 45 at Maroochydore remains vacant according to nearby business owners, after the business changed hands.

Depot 45 had built up a cult following, thanks to its tasty pizzas, legendary 24-inch offerings and affordable prices.

But customers were left with only memories, and took to the Depot 45 Facebook page to express their sadness, after a message was posted on the day new owners took charge advising the doors would be closed for good.

"Depot 45 is now permanently closed. Thank you," a post on the business page read on April 11.

The Daily reported in February last year when Renae Pardoe-Smith and Lesley Bruckshaw took over the pizzeria and told of their plans to pay tribute to the history of Maroochy Waters, naming their pizzas after founding families in the area.

Customers thanked Ms Pardoe-Smith and the team on April 2, after the Depot 45 Facebook page confirmed the business had been sold.

"The rumours are true! Depot 45 has SOLD," the post said.

"It's been a very hard decision to make, but it's time for me to move on. I'd like to take this opportunity to say how much I've enjoyed building Depot 45 but more importantly, everyone who has supported us throughout the journey.

"It's been hard work but I've loved every minute of it. Thankyou very dearly for your loyal patronage and friendship.

"The new owners will be taking over Tuesday 11th April. I'd love to say Thankyou and goodbye to as many of you as possible.

"You made Depot 45 possible! Please drop in over this coming week, we would love to see you."

"Not happy at all about this... my favourite restaurant on the whole coast," Becca Smith wrote.

"That's such sad news! We love their pizzas and the Tuesday deal was awesome," Larissa Sharpe wrote.

The Daily has reached out to Ms Pardoe-Smith to find out more about the sale of the business and her plans for the future.

The business closure came before a string of business closures on the Coast in May, with wedding venues, cafes, restaurants and a bank branch around the region all closing or announcing an upcoming closure so far this month.
