Curryfest a huge success as thousands brave the rain

MORE than 10,000 curry lovers braved the rain on Saturday to make the 2013 OzBerries Curryfest a huge success.

Despite less than ideal weather during the main event on Saturday, organiser Tegan Ewart said the atmosphere was electric.

"It was massive," Mrs Ewart said.

"At about 11am there was about 10,000 people at the festival, the street, the main stage, the reserve were all packed.

"Of course it would have been nice if it had been sunny but the feedback we've had is all really positive."

This year was the first the festival had been taken back to the streets and had no entry fee.

Locals and visitors were full of praise for the event, with many taking to Facebook to show their appreciation.

"I found the parade with the floats wonderful," Christine Brittliff said.

"Curryfest was great thank you to everyone involved," noted Lyn Pearson.
