Cultural conference aims to maximise tourism potential

WITH art and culture so important to the regional economy an event in Dorrigo on February 24 to be hosted by the tourism industry will help participants learn how to benefit.

Booked in to the old Gazette Theatre in Hickory Street, the workshop is sponsored by Bellingen Shire Council in partnership with Destination Coffs Coast and Dorrigo Chamber of Commerce.

Council's Economic and Business Development manager Michael Grieve said the program includes a panel discussion featuring representatives from Screenwave International Film Festival, Camp Creative, Bello Winter Music Festival and Urunga Chamber of Commerce.

"Those attending will benefit from insights delivered by panel members on how events, festivals and cultural tourism can be a key driver of the tourism industry and provide economic benefits,” he said.

"True to the theme the event will showcase some local talent as well as providing a great networking opportunity for both the creative and tourism industries.”

Anyone involved in either industry is encouraged to participate and should email paradise@coffscoast.com.au by this Monday, February 19, if wishing to attend.
