Crows keen to break Geelong hoodoo

ADELAIDE coach Don Pyke isn't dwelling on history, but acknowledges his Crows have a tough battle ahead in Geelong.

The ladder-leaders tonight take on the Cats at Simonds Stadium, where they haven't been successful since 2003.

They've lost their past nine in Geelong and 16 from 19 in total.

Adelaide last ventured to Geelong in round 18 last season and came away with a 30-point defeat.

"Even looking at the likely sides last night there are probably going to be five or six changes from both teams from the last time we played them," Pyke said.

But the coach did admit "clearly down there previously we haven't been good enough and that's a good test for us tomorrow night".

Patrick Dangerfield was a star last time, gathering 36 disposals to go with the 33 he collected in his first match against his old side in round eight last season.

The reigning Brownlow Medallist and his old mate Rory Sloane may go head to head, or Cats coach Chris Scott may assign Scott Selwood the job of tagging the star Crow.

"When you get the chance to watch the best players in the game play, whether they're matched up on each other or at least are on the same field, it's always good," Pyke said.

"We've tried different things with Rory in recent times with the tagging.

"We've also done some of it ourselves.

"We'll plan and it will be about executing and adapting on the night to see what the game throws up."
