Croquet starting new year in style

MEMBERS of Sawtell Croquet Club are looking forward to 2010 with a full calendar of events planned starting with a fun day planned for Australia Day celebrations.

The club is promising some fun games of croquet and a trivia quiz with prizes followed by a good old Aussie barbecue lunch.

The monthly mallet competition will start again in February and members are reminded that the more they play the more chance they have of having the honour of wearing the monthly mallet.

With their east to find croquet lawn in the Caravan Park on Lyons Road in Sawtell, the croquet club will be holding a ‘Come and Try Day’ on Friday, February 26.

Croquet is gentle exercise for both mind and body and a game for all ages.

If anyone would like to have a go they can contact club captain Jenny on 6651 1034 or secretary Ellen on 6651 1054.

The first club event for the year for Golf Croquet players is the Captains Trophy to be played on March 16 and 18 with the final to be played on March 23.

The club’s upcoming general meeting is being held on Monday, February 1, starting at 11.45am.
