Crocodiles, snakes and wild bras lurk after flood
CROCODILE sightings around Rockhampton continue to be reported with the latest seen in Koongal on Saturday.
Residents reported seeing the crocodile in Stack St with another reported from Depot Hill on Friday.
But crocodiles aren't the only critters getting around under the murky surface with reports of snakes, wallabies, camels, a family of swans, doors, a bra and a cow washed up on to the beach at Emu Park, causing the beaches to be closed.
The sightings have prompted authorities to send out urgent warnings to people to avoid floodwaters because of the risk of disease from contaminated waters, or an unexpected encounter with an unfriendly visitor.
Our favourite unusual sighting was the buoy found by a reader on the intersection of Quay and O'Connell sts, Rockhampton.
The buoy had handwritten on it, "Flood 2013 Moura 27/1/13".
We assume it was launched into Kianga Creek, Moura, five days earlier and would love to hear from those who released it.
