Crews battling fire west of Gin Gin

EIGHT Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) crews are working to contain a vegetation fire burning in inaccessible country on Hilltop Road, New Moonta (west of Gin Gin).

The fire, which broke out on Friday afternoon, is no longer posing any threat to properties.

Crews are constructing fire breaks and undertaking backburning operations.

Smoke will be in the area over the coming days and residents are advised to close windows and doors, and keep medications close by if they have a respiratory condition.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they should call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
