22-month-old boy killed in tragic Mackay crash

UPDATE: 

EMERGENCY Services were called to the scene of a crash where a child was killed at 1.32am this morning.

While initial reports state that the child was a one-year-old, Queensland Ambulance Service can confirm that the child was a boy who was 22 months old.

Three fire crews attended the crash to make the area safe and assist ambulance officers.

A 31-year-old man who was the driver of the vehicle was transported to Mackay Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition with chest and leg injuries.

Forensic Crash Unit are still at the scene continuing investigations. 

 

 

EARLIER:

A CRASH at Armstrong Beach near Sarina has claimed the life of a one-year-old child.

It is believed that at about 1.30am this morning a vehicle travelling along Miran Khan Drive left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

A 31-year-old man from the Sarina area has been taken to Mackay Base Hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

The Forensic Crash Unit is continuing investigations.
