Driver unhurt after highway crash

A 25-YEAR-OLD Korora driver had a lucky escape from a roll-over crash near the Big Banana about 12.50am on Saturday.

The accident closed the Pacific Highway for 20 minutes.

The man was driving north on the highway when he apparently lost control of his Land Rover Discovery near the turn-off to West Korora Rd.

The 4WD tipped on its side and rolled onto its roof before skidding into, and partially blocking, southbound lanes of the highway, leaving a trail of broken glass and personal belongings.

Observers said the young man, the only occupant of the car, appeared severely shaken but uninjured.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance for observation and for routine tests.

The accident was attended by police, fire and ambulance officers.

Coffs Harbour police said they were waiting for the results of blood tests before taking any further action.
