Child treated following crash on busy Mackay stretch

UPDATE 3.55PM: A CHILD is being treated for head lacerations after a crash in Mackay. 

The child, of unknown age and gender, was one of six passengers involved in a two vehicle crash which happened earlier this afternoon. 

A spokesman for the Queensland Ambulance Service said the group's injuries did not appear to be serious at this stage.  

INITIAL: TWO vehicles are blocking traffic following a crash on Mackay Bucasia Road.

A spokesperson for Queensland Police said the two-vehicle crash, which occurred near the Bunnings round about was reported to police about 3.30pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Ambulance crews were on route to the scene.

The QPS Spokeswoman said at this stage emergency responders had not determined the severity of any injuries.
