CQ finishes fifth out of 12 teams at Qld cricket titles

CRICKET: Central Queensland finished fifth in the Queensland under-12 championships which wrapped up in Rockhampton yesterday.

The team, made up of players from Rockhampton, Gladstone, Biloela and Central Highlands, scored a 10-run win over South-East Queensland in the play-off for fifth and sixth at Kalka Shades.

The Adrian Reck-coached CQ scored two wins from its four round games to finish third in its pool and set up the showdown with South-East Queensland.

Sunshine Coast was crowned state champion for the second time in three years after a comprehensive victory over Metro South West in the grand final played at Rockhampton Cricket Ground.

Twelve regional teams contested the five-day championships.
