Coffs murder case in court
A MURDER case is before the courts where a man was allegedly bashed to death with a baseball bat in a Coffs Harbour caravan park.
Shain Williams, 27, formerly of Vincent Street, is accused of killing a 59-year-old man by striking him multiple times to the head and body with the bat.
The incident allegedly happened during a heated dispute in a cabin at the Clog Barn Caravan Park in the early hours of October 23, last year.
The victim died as a result of his injuries in Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital.
Police arrested Williams just hours after the alleged assault at a business in south Coffs Harbour.
Since his arrest, Williams has been refused bail and held at the Grafton Correctional Centre. He is yet to enter pleas on charges of murder and causing grievous bodily harm to a person with intent.
Last year his legal defence withdrew a plea for bail.
Crown prosecutors will allege he inflicted serious fatal injuries on the victim.
The court has been told officers attended Coffs Harbour’s Clog Barn Caravan Park at 2.45am following reports of an assault and a loud domestic dispute inside a holiday villa.
The male victim was found at the scene suffering severe head trauma.
A crime scene was established and detectives made an arrest more than six hours of the serious assault was reported.
Williams is set to reappear in court on June 15.
