Qld man in court for armed robbery

A MAN extradited from Queensland on charges of committing an armed robbery at a Coffs Harbour supermarket two years ago appeared in Coffs Harbour Local Court yesterday.

Lincoln Dennis Coombes, 33, has been remanded in custody after facing court charged with assault with intent to rob with an offensive weapon and armed break, enter and steal.

Police allege Coombes was armed with a knife when he tried to rob the Three Bears Supermarket at the Northside Shopping Centre in Park Beach Road on February 3, 2008.

He allegedly threatened and struggled with the 64-year-old shop owner before fleeing the scene empty handed.

Police also allege he committed a break and enter at a Coffs Harbour day spa in August, 2007.

Coffs Harbour police extradited Coombes from Brisbane in February.

He is due to reappear next month.
