Country rolls the coast in rep AFL clash
AFL North West turned in an impressive performance to end AFL North Coast's domination in the men's representative match at Inverell's Varley Oval.
It was the first time since 1999 the country hosts lifted the shield over their coastal counterparts.
Best on ground was North-West's Michael Gould who helped the hosts to an 89-point win.
The North Coast team was led by captain Luke Stanford who was awarded his side best on ground by the umpires.
The North West team recognised veteran defender Sam Hardes as the recipient of the Paul Sheldon Medal for his performance across the half back line.
Grafton's new recruit, Josh Veness marked himself as one to watch for the remainder of the season with the quality of his display and four goals from midfield.
