Countdown on to rally champs

THE biggest event to hit the Coffs Coast needs one hell of a big billboard.

Just eight days until Rally Australia – the national round of the World Rally Championships – roars into action and an 11-metre high Rally Australia banner has taken pride of place in the city centre.

The monstrous rally promotion has been set on the roof of the Palms Shopping Centre in a major logistics exercise.

A Herculean effort saw the eight-metre wide banner trucked into Harbour Dr and lifted onto the roof by crane.

The main street showpiece sets the scene for the arrival of the world’s best rally drivers in Coffs Harbour.

The likes of Sebastien Loeb, Petter Solberg, Mikko Hirvonen, Jari-Matti Latvala, Sebastien Ogier and American stunt-driving star Ken Block will attend the rally show in the Coffs Harbour City Square on Thursday, September 8, at 4.30pm.

This event will serve as the ultimate opportunity for rally fans to meet and greet the world’s best.

That evening the action will move to the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshores for the rally’s showpiece event, the opening two super special stages at the Jetty.
