Council position vacant

THE search is on for suitable candidates from the northern beaches to contest the forthcoming Coffs Harbour City Council elections.

The Woolgoolga Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism says it is essential the Northern Beaches are adequately and effectively represented in the new council and it has appealed to the public to seek out and identify those best equipped and willing to contest the September 13 poll.

Current Northern Beaches representatives, Councillor Clive Joass, has announced he will not contest the next election for health reasons and it's believed Councillor David Featherstone may also not contest the ballot.

“Both councillors have made an important and lasting contribution to the Northern Beaches over many years,” chamber of commerce president Greg Ray said.

“They deserve community acknowledgement and thanks for their selfless contribution and dedication. They have served their community with distinction.”
