Jess' photo wins top spot

IT’S been quite a week for Corindi teenager Jessica Royal.

Last Friday she won the student encouragement award at the Marnie Yeates Memorial Nature Photography Competition, and now her image of the Coffs Harbour Jetty has been selected by you as the front of the Advocate’s 2011 calendar.

“Oh my God, this is just great,” Jessica said when told of her win.

The 17-year-old took the photo in August with a Canon 500D she received as a Christmas present.

“I went down to Coffs just to take some pictures of the Jetty so I’m very happy that so many people have liked what I did,” she said.

Jessica has just completed her HSC and would like to make a career out of photography.

She said she will use the $50 voucher she receives from Fletchers with one for the same amount she won with the award from the Marnie Yeates competition to have her image of the Jetty enlarged.
