Corbould Park gets more praise ahead of metro meet
RACING: Sunshine Coast trainer Mick Mair has joined the Corbould Park cheer squad, suggesting the track is probably the best in the country.
The venue has received wide praise in the past year or two for being fair and for its ability to cope with weather and frequent meetings.
Little Mountain's Mair knows the course better than most.
"It's probably the best track in Australia and if it's not, it's the best one in Queensland anyway,” he said.
"It's well-designed and well-drained. Everything's just done properly there.”
The circuit holds more race meetings than most.
"It backs up really well,” Mair said.
Sunshine Coast Turf Club will host a metropolitan meeting on Saturday. Mair has some runners nominated.
Among them are rough chances Treasure Gallery and Queenofthepixies, although Mair said he was not sure if the latter would race in a 1000m class 6 plate yet.
The six-year-old mare is coming off an eighth placing on the Sunshine Coast last month.
There are nine races on the card for Saturday's meeting. The track's leading trainer from last season, Stuart Kendrick, has runners in five of them.
