Cops flat out after robbers

POLICE say they’re working flat out to find the louts who smashed their way into Coffs Coast businesses this week.

“We are hoping for people to come forward and provide information on the miscreants who are doing this,” said Detective Sergeant Craig Semple from the Coffs/Clarence Target Action Group.

At Spirit Cruises the offenders busted open the back door and tried to smash open the storeroom safe with large rocks from the nearby breakwall.

When they were foiled they grabbed cash from the register, leaving behind an estimated $4000 damage bill.

They then kicked their way into the Harbourside Chandlery next door, triggering an alarm at 12.50am. They pulled out drawers looking for money and took a small amount of cash.

Around the corner at The Galley, staff discovered their door had been jemmied and the place ransacked but the culprits couldn’t find any cash.

About two hours earlier the Sawtell Newsagency had been targeted. The hoodlums kicked down the back door but fled empty-handed.

If you saw suspicious activity at the international marina or in Sawtell’s 1st Avenue overnight on Tuesday, contact Coffs Harbour police on 6652 0299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

IN other news, police have caught three teenagers who allegedly stole three computer monitors from Narranga Public School in Coffs Harbour last Friday night.
