Competition healthy

IT SEEMS the wowsers in our community don't want the Woolworths store to be built in Woolgoolga to have a liquor outlet. Whether or not it sells liquor will have no impact on youth drinking problems or beach parties. They have no problem getting their liquor now so what would change?   Prohibition worked well in the US didn't it? The one positive side of it having a liquor outlet is that locals might now have access to reasonably priced liquor as opposed to the extortionate prices charged by existing outlets in Woopi.   Obviously some vested interests are opposed to the whole project and not just the liquor outlet, but competition is good, remember.   JIM MILLS
