Comets keen for crack at title
COMING close to breaking the club’s 25-year-long rugby league premiership drought has Coffs Harbour keen to get back into training for the 2011 season.
Comets’ coach Warren Gilkinson is pleased with the number of players from the 2010 season who have already signed up for another crack next year to try and avenge the loss in this year’s Group 2 grand final.
“There’s a lot of blokes signed on already and all of the ones that are staying are keen to get back into it,” Gilkinson said.
The coach is keeping a tight hold of the reins at this stage not wanting his team to go too hard too early.
Training for the Comets has begun, but at this stage Gilkinson is holding one session a week at Advocate Park on a Wednesday night.
“There’s no running involved,” the coach said.
“It’s just bag work and weights at this stage, nothing too strenuous.
“It’s more just a case of getting the routine started.”
