Comets spoil the Panthers' party

THE Coffs Harbour Comets have signalled their strong Tooheys Group 2 Rugby League first grade credentials today downing the Sawtell Panthers by 20-points.

The Comets claimed the win 44 to 24 points, hitting back in the second half after trailing 12-10 at the half-time break.

The result came on a day when the Sawtell Panthers celebrated the club's 40 year anniversary of the 1978 Clayton Cup win.

That team famously featured both Noel and Les Cleal and has long been regarded as the best Panthers side to contest Group 2 Rugby League.
